Everyone has their hobby and mine happen to by pageants (if you could call it a hobby) and sewing. Unfortunately both take up a lot of time and money which means I don't get to work on it as much as I would like. This spring break I had the illusion of time and decided to work on a pencil skirt. I have been dreaming of a floral pencil skirt ever since I saw it on pinterest. Despite the unnecessary need for such an item of clothing, I live in athletic clothing, I decided to go for it!
After shopping at Pacific Fabrics in Sodo, I stocked up on about 5 different cotton fabrics and was ready to begin at least on project. I ended up switching tutorials about 3 times in the process and although I finished in one day, I had to take a second day to take in my skirt about 3 inches on each side of my hips. I still struggle with sewing in a straight line and without a zipper foot I ended up hand sewing my zipper into my skirt. Despite all that I am incredibly proud of it and have worn it in public twice already!

My skirt progress as told through snapchat. In the final picture it's hard to see but the hips too big; I think Kim Kardashian would have fit with her fabulous hips rather than me.
The Final Skirt
When I find the perfect tutorial (or make one of my own) I'll definitely link it up to here but since I winged it for the most part I can't show anything. I hope you like and I can't wait to share more projects with you all!
