From my understanding of how pageants worked from Miss Washington USA, I recently got my head shots done! To be honest, this my third set of head shots and for some reason I don't think I'm meant for those traditional glamorous head shots.... Maybe it's because I'm not a model, or that I'm not used to it, or maybe for some other reason.
This round of head shots was also taken at the University of Washington Seattle campus on a grey drizzly day and it was so much fun! Through the UW Facebook community I was able to locate a student photographer who was willing to take the shots for free (including editing!) as a trade off for expanding her portfolio and using it for advertising purposes (if she chooses). I got to practice a bunch of new looks and she got to experiment with her new lens :) It was a win-win for both us and I can't push hard enough for those who are doing pageantry by themselves or on a budget how important it is to find local connections at the university level.

I'm semi-obsessed my gorgeous sash and crown that labels me as a representative of The Great Pacific Northwest. It perfectly reflects my obsession with this gorgeous region that I love to explore. I mean, we have a rainforest! The photos above are some of my favorites from the photo shoot because they are classy, elegant, and just a little silly. I'm not posting any of the head shots because I don't know which one I want to submit as my official headshot just yet.
If you're looking for a portrait photographer I can't recommend Madison L. Photography enough! She has a great portfolio and was more than happy to accommodate my slight wardrobe changes, location changes, and ideas. She came with her own ideas, tons of tips (since I'm no model) and lots of confidence boosting feedback! Here's her little blog post about shooting with me!

PS- The only issue I have with these pictures is my hair and makeup! I try so hard and you have no idea how much hairspray I put in but I still ended up with frizzy, flattening hair and not the best make-up. I understand running around in the rain and 5 hours after you did it will make a difference but... It just fits with my other head shot issues of the past. Check out my past posts about those (first set) (second set)
